While
Kareena Kapoor Khan made kaftaans our go-to outfit for 2020, it is safe to say that most of us barely got out of our favourite pajamas and loungewear. But with the new year upon us, fashion experts say that it is time for a change and a drastic one at that - you’ve got to ditch your pajamas and loungewear.

Tis the year to dress up
Bengaluru-based designer Krishnamani says that one thing that all of us need to leave behind in 2020 is lounge wear.
"Get rid of your pajamas. 2021 is the year to dress up. Most of us have spent months together in our pajamas, which makes it all the more pertinent to ditch them," she asserts. Artist-turned-designer Rakshitha Srinivas agrees and says, "We've had enough of pajamas. Now, we need to look beyond loungewear."
2021 will be about minimalism
"With weddings and functions going the minimalist way, this will also reflect in our clothing choice. Elegant, but keeping the occasion in mind, is how people will dress this year," says designer Shravanti Shivkumar.
Layer it up, say designers
While dressing up is the buzzword, Krishnamani adds that people may still go for a breezy casual look. "A lot of people are looking at accessorizing and mixing and matching their outfits. There is a sense of casualness still, but they are definitely trying layering of outfits with jackets, stoles and more," she says.
Rakshita says wearing jackets with prints will be quite popular. "Indie prints like Ajrak and Jaipuri prints will work well this year," she says. As for the colour schemes, Krishnamani and Raskhita say that yellow, green and pastel shades will be more popular.
